back to topJune 19, 2002Aidan UpdateAidan seems to have caught his first cold. His nose is stuffy (he snorts a lot, which is amusing to us, but obviously uncomfortable for him) and he may be a little congested (but he doesn't have a runny nose or anything). We called the doctor's office and they said that about all we can do at this point is make sure the vaporizer (humidifier) is on while he's sleeping, perhaps have his head elevated too, and use a saline solution to get all the gunk out of his nose.

back to topJune 16, 2002Matthew Knee UpdateMatthew is able to walk around the house without the use of crutches for the first time since surgery. Actually, this is less impressive than it sounds. These are not normal, walking steps, but are more like tentative, unsteady steps. They are similar in style to going up stairs one step at a time, only he's doing this on level ground. Also, his arms flail about as he tries to keep his balance; Renee smartly called this movement "chicken wings."

back to topJune 12, 2002Renee is Back to WorkToday is Renee's first day back to work and Aidan's first day at daycare. Aidan's first day was rather successful by any account. He didn't fuss (much) and he ate well (three bottles).

back to topJune 07, 2002Aidan UpdateAidan had his first round of immunizations today. He only got three of his scheduled four because there is a national shortage on the fourth one (however, it isn't "vital" in that it isn't required for his admissions to daycare). As expected, he cried his head off. We have to keep an eye on him today, maybe even massage his thighs (where he received the shots) and if his temperature gets above 105, we need to take some action... His official stats: 14 pounds 6 ounces; 23.5 inches long; 41 centimeter head circumference.

back to topJune 05, 2002Babbling AidanAidan is talking up a storm and has been entertaining himself (and his parents) by blowing little spit bubbles.

back to topJune 04, 2002Aidan's First SwimAidan gets to "swim" in a pool for the very first time with his friend Silas (they know each other from daycare). Aidan absolutely loved the water.

back to topJune 03, 2002June 01, 2002Aidan UpdateAidan is now deliberately placing his fist (usually his left) into his mouth to soothe himself. He is also pretty much able to stand on his own two legs (he just can't keep his balance yet).
